Calgary Italian Bakery Ltd. has been sharing the taste of tradition since 1962. Founded by Luigi and Myrl Bontorin, the bakery began as a true family effort – Luigi baking at night and delivering by day, with Myrl managing the books. Luigi, originally from the Ponte Vecchio area near Bassano, Italy, brought with him a deep-rooted passion for quality and craft.
Their hard work helped grow the business into one of Western Canada’s largest independent bakeries. Luigi’s motto, “The harder I work, the luckier I get,” still guides a team of 80 dedicated staff.
Today, their sons Louis and David carry on the legacy, blending Italian heritage with fresh, local baking – made with care, from our family to yours.
This cause is deeply meaningful to us and impacts the lives of countless Canadians.
We’re honoured to be part of a community rallying together to help people affected by cancer and will be donating $30,000 to CCS this year.
